Voting Rights Restoration Efforts in Colorado

Current Felony Disenfranchisement Law

Under Colorado's current felony disenfranchisement law, individuals are allowed to vote after being released from prison and discharged from parole for a felony conviction.

Legislative Advocacy

In March 2010, SB 179, a bill that restores the right to vote to people on parole and requires notification to individuals in the criminal justice system about their right to vote, was introduced. In early April, it passed the Senate and is currently before the House. Carl Wicklund, Executive Director of the American Probation and Parole Assocation, wrote a letter to members of House of Representatives in support of the bill.
