Today, six good-government groups sent a letter to members of the New York State Assembly highlighting a historic opportunity to create a more transparent, participatory, and publicly deliberative process for making state policy. The groups recommend passage of ethics reform, and reform to the rules by which the Assembly operates. They ask Assembly Members to:

1)      Increase the strength and efficiency of committees.
2)      Give a greater voice to individual Assembly Members.|
3)      Provide for equal funding for operating and staff budgets to all members, regardless of party or seniority.
4)      Increase the transparency of legislative deliberations.
